In-depth Review of the Poulan Pro PB145G38
Ease Of Use
Purchasing a ride-on mower usually entails a long exhaustive manual that stresses upon all the innovative features, care instruction and maintenance garbage that is designed to take up more pages than provide useful information. The Poulan Pro PB145G38 though is a no-bullshit riding mower with limited instructions and even more limited things to take care off. You have a conventional steering wheel, 6 speed transmission lever by the side of your seat and a larger height adjusting lever up front to the left of the hood to control your mower. That is how easy this mower is to use. Same goes for cleaning the deck. Just life it up using a wrench lift, wash the deck and blades spray some non-stick deck oil and get back to mowing. Quite simply put there isn’t another ride-on mower in the market so easy to use.
Cut Quality
Being an affordable acquisition, the mower is bound to lack a few tiny improvements and one of them is a stabilizing set of gurney wheels on the deck that ensure a perfect cut all the time irrespective of the terrain. You can get over this and ensure excellent cut quality by fitting the mower with third party front stabilizing wheels.
Height Adjustment
6 different cutting heights all accessible from the comfort of the low-back seat makes switching between different settings that much easier. The lowest you can get is 1.5 inches, but I haven’t yet felt the desire to scrap that close to the ground. Remember though on uneven terrain you need the ability to quickly alter the height and avoid the appearance of an improperly mowed lawn.
Motor Power
Yes, the Poulan Pro Lawn Mower PB145G38 can pump out just 14.5 HP, but I find it sufficient enough to handle a lawn under 1 acre of space. Can you add extra attachments to this rather is it a makeshift small tractor? No it isn’t because of the smaller engine, but it definitely is a full-fledged ride-on mower with ample power for inclinations and gullies.
Maintenance
Owing to its inexpensive nature, plastic body and simple configuration, it will falter soon. Thankfully, the service of Poulan is excellent and their replacement parts are affordable. I haven’t seen anything alarming in the two months that I have used this mower so at least the warranty period will not have you replacing any component.
Cost Effectiveness
Less than $1000, you just can’t ask for anything more in this mower. From the dependable Husqvarna brand, Poulan Pro is the affordable sub-brand that is designed for an average lawn owner with just the bare minimum of requirements and thus priced accordingly. Even the replacement parts are priced cheaper than Husqvarna ride-on mowers.
- Affordable tiny lawn mower
- Enough power to do the job on small yards
- You might want to install third party stabilizing front wheels to get a perfect cut
